Prayer 7: with endeavour. Amen

from Seven Prayers for Stephen Chilton: Requiem [album] by John Harvey

/

about

Description
The melodic line is constructed of micro samples taken from a low-resolution recording of the spoken source text (below). The recording was, first, slowed down considerably. Then, the melodic and non-tonal material was sampled, extracted, edited, reversed, superimposed, and harmonically enhanced, and the whole, finally, looped. A reverse version of the new melodic line was afterwards superimposed half-way through as the forward version fades away. The sea-like sounds are constructed from a recording of white noise that was heard on the shortwave radio band.

Source Text
My desire for a healthier life has reached a crescendo. It is now about discovering, within my being, a new life – one based on genuine experience, as opposed to the falsity of our western lifestyle. I will pursue this, with endeavour. Amen.
