Argyllshire Gathering 1

from Argyllshire Gathering [ep] by John Harvey

/

about

A twenty-second section was extracted from the recording of the ‘duet'. The left- and right-hand channels of the section are separated into two tracks, and the left-hand track looped twenty times. The right-hand track slows to 90% of its original speed over the twenty-second duration, and looped. After the first few seconds at the beginning of the piece, the right-hand track moves more and more out of phase with the left-hand track (thereby exacerbating the already significant disjunction between the players’ versions of the music), before returning to synchronicity at the very end of the left-hand track's twentieth loop.
